Travelling by ferry to Ireland is a
great alternative to flying there, especially when you are
travelling as part of a group or with a family. Ireland has six
ports that can be accessed by Britain's 9 ports and even by 2 ports
in France. You can drive your vehicle onto the ferry and utilise the
facilities on board, such as, bars, restaurant and depending what
part of Ireland (does not apply to Northern Ireland) you are
travelling to duty free shopping. There are good transportation
links at every ferry arrival port in Ireland, with buses and taxis that
can take you right to the city centre The fares vary by quite a lot
from season to season, the peak period is between mid-June to
mid-September, and can be twice as high than the lowest fare price
at other times of the year. prices do go up slight near Christmas
and the new year and is better to get a reservation at these times
so you do not miss out. The best way for a group of people or a
family to travel is by car and using the maximum number of
passengers allowed on the ticket. the cheapest tickets are those
that sell with a set return date on them. Fares are also reduced
during the middle of the week and early in the morning and late at
night. You can also get discounts if you have student card (check
the operator's latest terms & conditions). |
